Terms of Use

Rules for using Narrow & Wide.

These Terms are written in plain English to help explain how Narrow & Wide may be used. They should be reviewed before full commercial launch.

Last updated: April 2026

Welcome to Narrow & Wide. By accessing or using this website, creating an account, submitting content, listing a boat, using Boat Log, joining an early access list, or interacting with our tools, you agree to follow these Terms of Use.

These Terms are here to protect the usefulness, honesty, and trustworthiness of the platform.

In plain English

Use the site fairly

Do not misuse the platform, submit false information, scrape content, spam users, or try to manipulate listings, reviews, cost data, or visibility.

Your content remains yours

You keep ownership of the content you submit, but you give Narrow & Wide permission to display, store, process, moderate, and use it as needed to operate the platform.

Private means private

Private Boat Log entries should remain private unless you choose to share them. Public submissions must meet our Community Values.

Information is not professional advice

Cost estimates, guides, listings, reviews, and tools are provided for information only. They do not replace surveys, legal checks, financial advice, insurance advice, or your own judgement.

We may moderate content

We may remove, edit, reject, hide, or restrict content or accounts that harm the platform, mislead users, breach these Terms, or go against our Community Values.

Content, listings, and public contributions

4. Boat listings

If you submit a boat listing, you are responsible for making sure the information you provide is accurate, lawful, and not misleading.

This includes, where relevant:

  • price
  • location
  • ownership or authority to sell
  • boat length and type
  • builder and year, where known
  • hull, engine, fit-out, and system details
  • mooring information
  • licence or Boat Safety Scheme information
  • photographs and media
  • known faults, limitations, or important details

You must not list a boat you do not own or do not have authority to sell.

Narrow & Wide may review, edit, reject, remove, or request clarification on listings. We do not guarantee that listings are complete, accurate, current, available, or suitable for any buyer.

Buyers must carry out their own checks, surveys, legal enquiries, financial checks, insurance checks, and due diligence before buying a boat.

5. Directory submissions and business information

Narrow & Wide may allow users or businesses to submit directory entries, business profiles, marina details, service information, place information, or suggested updates.

If you submit business or directory information, you must make reasonable efforts to ensure it is accurate, fair, and lawful.

You must not:

  • impersonate a business
  • claim ownership of a business profile without authority
  • submit misleading details
  • add fake reviews or endorsements
  • use directory submissions for spam or irrelevant promotion

We may edit, approve, reject, remove, merge, or update directory entries to keep the platform useful and trustworthy.

6. Public notes, reviews, and shared content

If you choose to publish or submit content publicly, it must meet our Community Values.

Public content may include:

  • reviews
  • public Boat Log entries
  • place notes
  • marina notes
  • mooring notes
  • facilities information
  • directory suggestions
  • comments or replies, where available
  • images
  • listing content
  • other user-submitted contributions

Public content should be honest, fair, useful, and based on genuine experience.

You must not use public content to:

  • harass or attack people
  • publish private information
  • submit fake reviews
  • submit fake costs
  • mislead users
  • manipulate platform data
  • promote scams or spam
  • impersonate others
  • unfairly damage a person, business, or organisation

We may moderate, edit, hide, remove, reject, or restrict public content where needed.

7. Images, documents, and uploads

You may be able to upload images, documents, receipts, manuals, surveys, invoices, listings, or other files.

You must only upload content that:

  • you own
  • you have permission to use
  • you have the right to share
  • does not breach privacy, copyright, or other laws
  • does not contain harmful, malicious, or unlawful material

You are responsible for checking whether uploaded documents include personal or sensitive information before making anything public.

We may remove uploads that breach these Terms or create risk for the platform or others.

Boat Log, expenses, and data

8. Boat Log

Boat Log is designed to help users keep records about their boat, journeys, maintenance, costs, documents, notes, memories, and related information.

Boat Log may include:

  • private log entries
  • journey notes
  • maintenance records
  • expense records
  • documents
  • photos
  • public notes, where you choose to share them
  • future AI-assisted tools
  • future export or resale features

Private Boat Log entries are intended to remain private unless you choose to make them public or share them.

You are responsible for the content you add to Boat Log. You should not upload content you do not have the right to use, or content that is unlawful, harmful, or intended to misuse the platform.

9. Expense tracking and cost data

Narrow & Wide may provide tools for tracking and estimating boat-related costs.

These tools are designed to help users better understand costs such as moorings, licence fees, insurance, fuel, heating, power, blacking, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and other boat-related expenses.

If you submit expense data, you agree that it should be genuine and based on real costs.

You must not knowingly submit:

  • fake expense data
  • deliberately exaggerated costs
  • artificially low costs
  • malicious or joke entries
  • repeated false entries
  • data intended to distort averages, insights, comparisons, or platform outputs

Future cost insights may use anonymised or aggregated data. False data harms the usefulness of the platform and may lead to account restrictions.

10. Ownership of your content

You keep ownership of the content you submit to Narrow & Wide.

By submitting content, you give Narrow & Wide permission to store, display, process, reproduce, moderate, adapt for formatting, and use that content as needed to operate, improve, and promote the platform.

For public content, this may include displaying it on listing pages, directory pages, place pages, search results, guides, public notes, or other relevant areas of the site.

For private Boat Log content, our use should be limited to providing and maintaining the private tools, unless you choose to share that content publicly or otherwise give permission.

We do not claim ownership of your private Boat Log entries.

11. AI-assisted features

Narrow & Wide may use AI-assisted features in the future to help with tasks such as:

  • rewriting rough notes into clearer entries
  • summarising logs
  • organising information
  • tagging content
  • suggesting categories
  • improving listing drafts
  • helping users understand their own records

AI-assisted tools can make mistakes.

You are responsible for reviewing anything generated or suggested by AI before relying on it, publishing it, or using it in a listing, review, note, or public contribution.

AI-assisted features do not replace professional advice, surveys, legal checks, financial advice, insurance advice, or personal judgement.

Paid features and communications

12. Paid features, listings, subscriptions, and advertising

Narrow & Wide may offer paid features now or in the future, including paid listings, listing upgrades, business profiles, premium tools, subscriptions, sponsorships, advertising, affiliate links, or early access features.

Any paid feature will be subject to the terms shown at the point of purchase or sign-up.

Paid visibility, sponsorship, advertising, or affiliate relationships should be presented clearly where required.

Payment terms, refunds, cancellations, and renewals may be covered by separate terms or checkout information when paid features are introduced.

13. Newsletters, early access lists, and communications

If you join an early access list, newsletter, or update list, we may contact you about Narrow & Wide, Boat Log, listings, cost tools, guides, directory updates, Explore Moor, or related project news.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails where an unsubscribe option is provided.

Important service emails, account emails, payment emails, security emails, or legal notices may still be sent where needed.

Limits, moderation, and legal details

14. Third-party links and services

Narrow & Wide may link to third-party websites, services, businesses, brokers, marinas, YouTube channels, Substack, social platforms, payment providers, advertisers, affiliates, or other external resources.

We are not responsible for the content, availability, accuracy, policies, prices, or actions of third-party sites or services.

You should check third-party terms, privacy policies, and details before relying on them.

15. No professional advice

Narrow & Wide provides information, tools, estimates, listings, guides, reviews, and user-submitted content for general information only.

Nothing on the site should be treated as:

  • financial advice
  • legal advice
  • insurance advice
  • survey advice
  • safety advice
  • engineering advice
  • tax advice
  • professional buying advice
  • a guarantee that any boat, business, place, or service is suitable for you

You are responsible for your own decisions.

Before buying, selling, moving aboard, taking a mooring, paying for work, or relying on important information, you should carry out your own checks and seek professional advice where appropriate.

16. Availability and changes

Narrow & Wide is an evolving platform.

We may update, change, pause, remove, or restrict parts of the site at any time. Some features may be experimental, early access, or subject to change.

We will try to keep the site available and useful, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free tools, permanent storage, or permanent availability of any feature.

17. Moderation and account restrictions

We may moderate content and restrict accounts to protect the platform, users, businesses, and the integrity of our data.

We may remove, edit, hide, reject, limit, suspend, or delete content or accounts if we believe there has been:

  • breach of these Terms
  • breach of Community Values
  • fake or misleading content
  • false cost data
  • harassment or abuse
  • privacy violations
  • spam or scams
  • attempts to manipulate the platform
  • unlawful activity
  • risk to users, businesses, or the platform

We may not always be able to provide detailed explanations, especially where safety, privacy, security, or legal concerns are involved.

18. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Narrow & Wide is not liable for losses arising from:

  • use of the site
  • inability to access the site
  • reliance on listings
  • reliance on cost estimates
  • reliance on user-submitted content
  • reliance on directory information
  • third-party services
  • buying or selling decisions
  • boat condition, defects, ownership issues, or suitability
  • errors, omissions, or outdated information
  • loss of data, where permitted by law

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it cannot legally be excluded.

19. Ending or changing your use

You may stop using Narrow & Wide at any time.

If account deletion tools are available, you may request or use them. Some records may need to be retained where required for legal, security, payment, moderation, or legitimate business reasons.

Public content may remain visible if it has already been published, shared, included in platform records, or used in anonymised or aggregated form, unless removal is required or agreed.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the platform develops.

The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. If changes are significant, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.

Continuing to use the site after changes are published means you accept the updated Terms.

21. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales, unless consumer protection rules require otherwise.

22. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us or email hello@narrowandwide.co.uk.
